Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Nissan Jointly Recall 3.4 Million Cars Worldwide Over Airbag Issue

In this day and age, automakers share a number of common components, which is beneficial in terms of pushing down costs and development times, but can also be troublesome when something goes wrong, as is the case of a faulty air bag from Japanese manufacturer Takata Corp., which is used by Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Nissan.

Overall, the four Japanese carmakers and their subsidiaries are recalling 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the same issue that stems from improperly manufactured propellant wafers that could cause the airbag inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in the event of a crash.

Norwegians Embrace Nissan Leaf EV, the Country's 13th Best Selling Car in 2012

Norway really seems to have taken a liking to the all-electric Nissan Leaf, and reports now show that since the car went on sale in the country, in October of 2011, more than 3,300 have been sold. In 2012, it alone accounted for 1.7 percent of the entire Norwegian car sales figure for the year, with 2,298 units shifted.

Going even further, it was Nissan's second-best selling model, after the Qashqai crossover, which beat it by a difference of 599 vehicles, and 13th bestselling car overall in the market.

Nissan has launched a new special edition trim level for its Juke crossover  in the UK that comes with added gadgets and new design features.

Nissan has unveiled the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid at the New York Auto Show, powered by a 2.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor paired with a lithium-ion battery.

The hybrid’s 2.5-liter supercharged unit and the 15-kW (20-hp) electric motor together develop 250 horsepower and 243 lb-ft (329 Nm) of torque, nearly matching the 3.5-liter V6’s 260 hp and 240 lb-ft (325 Nm).
