Maserati GranCorsa Design Study for a Sleek Looking Coupe

We can't remember the last time that Maserati launched two completely new models in such a short time frame - we're talking about the new generation of the full-size Quattroporte displayed at the Detroit Auto Show in January, and the upcoming world premiere of the mid-size Ghibli sedan at next week's Auto China 2013 in Shanghai.

And there's more to come as Maserati's product plan calls for the debut of the Levante crossover that is the production version of the 2011 Kubang Concept. Is there room for more presentations? Well, of course there is, but it all depends on how well the Ghibli and the Kubang are received by the public.

New Maserati Ghibli's Turbocharged V6 Sounds Deliciously Sport and…Italian

To captivate an enthusiast's heart, an automobile needs to entice a driver's senses on many different levels. For example, some cars are beautiful to the eyes but lack the performance, handling and feel to create that unique bond between man (or woman) and machine.

It's far too early to say if Maserati's first attempt to build a car that targets the premium mid-size segment, the all-new Ghibli sports saloon, is one of those vehicles, but it does look and sound promising.

What would you say if we were to tell you that this black leather lounge chair was directly inspired and conceived as an homage to the new Maserati Quattroporte? Read on, think about it, and then tell us your opinion in the comments. Read more »

Maserati Officially Reveals New 2014 Ghibli Sedan, Confirms Turbo'd V6 Petrols and Diesel

As we suspected, the photos of the brand-new 2014 Maserati Ghibli sedan that surfaced online Monday night were indeed real, as the Italian automaker came out with an official announcement containing some initial details and a batch of higher-resolution images that allow us to get a closer look at the luxury sports sedan.

Built on a shortened version of the platform that underpins the also-new Quattroporte, the more compact-sized Ghibli is expected to measure less than 5 meters in length or roughly the same as a BMW 5-Series sedan, with which it will compete. Other rivals will include the high-powered versions of the Audi A6 and A7 Sportback, BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLS, Jaguar XF and possibly even the 2014 Cadillac CTS.

All-New 2014 Maserati Ghibli Sports Sedan: First Official Photos?

Only a few hours ago, we shared a teaser video of the upcoming 2014 Maserati Ghibli in which the Italian carmaker promised to drop the first images of the car later this week, ahead of its world premiere at the Auto China 2013 in Shanghai on April 20.

Apparently, they didn't check for…a leak, as the Czech team over at Autoforum (in case you didn't notice the red logo) are laying claims to the first official shots of the production Ghibli. While we can't be 100 percent certain at this time, our initial impression is that they're the real deal.

Maserati Blinds us with Ghibli Teaser, First Photos to Be Released April 10

In yet another teaser that doesn’t let us see (almost) anything, Maserati announced that it will release the first pictures of its all-new Ghibli sports sedan on April 10, 2013, ten days before the world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show. The video teaser shows black and white footage from the photo studio where we can see the silhouette of a car in the background. Ferrari LaFerrari-Based…Maserati LaMaserati Rendered

We were intrigued when we first heard that Maserati was considering to pull an MC-12 again, and launch a car based on the flagship Ferrari model, the Geneva showstopper – LaFerrari. We were even more surprised when we learnt that it was going to ditch the complicated and heavy hybrid system, and go for a more holistic approach to building a hypercar.

Now, we can get an idea of what it may look like, with a rendering brought to us courtesy of independent designer Anton Gjorsev.

New Alfa Romeo Rumors About a Maserati-Based Executive Saloon

Alfa Romeo, as a brand image, really stirs up the soul, and you only need to drive one to see why. Even their newer and more mainstream offerings still preserve some of the Alfa magic, so there's considerable and understandable interest for them to increase their range of cars, which is currently extremely limited. Scoop: New Maserati Ghibli Sports Sedan Wears Production Body

The last time our spy photographers turned their cameras on Maserati's engineers, they were out in the snow driving a test mule of the Ghibli wearing the body of the Quattroporte on the production model's platform.

Now that the weather is getting better in Europe, the Italians rolled out an actual prototype of the Ghibli, albeit under heavy disguise to prevent prying eyes from seeing the final exterior treatment.

LaFerrari-Based Maserati MC12-Successor is On the Drawing Board

We remember the Maserati MC12 supercar, but it was never really popular with enthusiasts, despite being based on the advanced Ferrari Enzo. It looked like a racing car, with very long front and rear overhangs, and a big fixed wing on the back – it was probably extremely difficult to park, as well (not that it matters…).

Still, it retained the carbon construction of the Ferrari, and kept its engine, albeit detuned from 651 hp, to 620 hp. It was extremely fast, but just a little bit slower than the Enzo.

Barn Find: 1968 Maserati Ghibli Unearthed After 14 Years in Storage

Why would anyone keep a beauty like this 1968 Maserati Ghibli coupe locked away for 14 years? While we can’t provide an answer to that question, we can at least enjoy this barn find and that the Ghibli spent all this time in a dry environment - thus it can be fully restored to its former glory. Jay Leno Shows Off His Newly-Restored Maserati 3500 GTi

The Maserati 3500 GT, from the 1960s, is one of the most recognizable Italian GT car shapes of the era, primarily because it was styled by people who were genuinely passionate about car design. The car used a 3.5-liter straight-six, which when fitted with Webber carbs put out about 220hp, at 5,000 rpm. Read more »

Maserati Quattroporte S Q4 Looks Grippy in New Promo – Sounds Good Too

When we first heard that the sleek new Maserati Quattroporte was getting a base V6 engine, whereas the previous generation car only had a beefy V8, we shook our head in disagreement. However, when the words twin turbo and all-wheel drive are added into the mix, along with a respectable 404hp (410 PS), we became considerably more interested. Read more »
